NBC Universal has acquired the Oxygen network for $925 million according to the LA Times. The independent network was launched seven years ago by Oprah Winfrey, Geraldine Laybourne and TV producer Marcy Carsey.
The network struggled to find viewers since its launch in 2000. NBC plans to pair it's programming with Oxygen's audience in hopes to increase exposure to the struggling network.
Oxygen currently airs reruns of "Xena: Warrior Princess" weekdays at 7am EST.
What does this mean for the show? Probably nothing, maybe more exposures across NBC's family of networks which includes USA Network, Bravo, and Sci-Fi Channel.
